The Target Gallery will be hosting a memorial exhibition to honor the life and work of Torpedo Factory Artist, Mary Ann Charette. Mary Ann’s trademark was animals in motion; she carved those images into porcelain vases, bowls, slab-formed tiles, plaques, and jewelry. She was also known for perfecting special firing results with raku and smoked porcelain. Her work recently appeared in the book “500 Animals in Clay.” Describing her work she said, “I try to capture the appearance of the animals in motion accurately and at the same time show the emotions that I see in their movements, especially that of leaping impalas.”
